Covenant Kids utilizes a team approach to meeting
children's needs. Foster parents are recognized as a vital part
of the Treatment Team - the group of professionals who monitor and
care for each child. Foster parents are the true, day-to-day experts
on their children.
Covenant Kids, Inc. (CK) desires to serve each child at the point
of need. A Treatment Team approach allows for an assessment of the
whole child, which leads to the development of an Individual Service
Plan for each child. CK has developed numerous programs that utilize
professional staff and community resources to provide both stimulation
and treatment, providing the child with the well-rounded environment
that he or she desperately needs and deserves.
CK believes that every child deserves a family. CK further believes
that a child's therapeutic needs can frequently be served effectively
within a well-trained foster family setting. Foster Families have
the opportunity to model healthy living patterns, effective communication
skills, and loving relationships. They are the true day-to-day experts
on the children in their home.
CK desires to make a difference
in children's lives physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Professional services for each
child are delivered through a Treatment Team that meets regularly
to assess the child's ongoing needs and develops an Individual
Service Plan.
A stable and healthy home environment
is provided through highly trained therapeutic foster homes. All
basic needs are met, including food, clothing, and shelter. Each
home provides the least restrictive environment in accordance
with the child's individual needs.
Social and recreational needs
are provided through home, school, church, and community activities,
with goals for each activity outlined in an Individual Service
Plan.
Emotional and psychological needs
of each child placed in a CK therapeutic foster home are addressed
through individual and/or group therapy. Psychological testing,
psychiatric evaluation and other medical services are also provided.
Spiritual needs are provided through
opportunities to participate in the spiritual life of the foster
family, in their church, and in the community. If the child so
desires, provision will be made for his/her individual religious
preferences. CK recruits families from throughout the Christian
community so that a wide variety of religious practices are available
and clearly presented at admission.
Each child is treated lovingly,
respectfully, and without regard for race, color, religion, sex,
or national origin.
The number of children placed
in any one home is based on the welfare of each child and the
family members involved.
Foster care is viewed as a temporary
placement. It is the commitment of CK to assist and prepare the
child to move on in a constructive, purposeful manner in accordance
with the permanency plan.
For those children who can be
expected to emancipate out of foster care, independent living
skills will be initiated on an age appropriate level.
For those children whose permanency plan is adoption and whose
parents' rights have been terminated, Covenant Kids attempts to
place the child with an adoptive home to assist in facilitating
an adoption for the child.
