Our Philosophy

  • CK desires to make a difference in children’s lives physically, emotionally and spiritually.
  • Professional services for each child are delivered through a treatment team that meets regularly to assess the child’s ongoing needs and develops an individual service plan.
  • A stable and healthy home environment is provided through highly trained therapeutic foster and adoptive homes. CK families go far beyond simply meeting the basic needs for food, clothing and shelter. Each home provides the least restrictive environment in accordance with the child’s individual needs.
  • Spiritual needs are met through opportunities to participate in the spiritual life of the foster family, their church and in their community. If the child so desires, provisions will be made for his/her individual religious preferences. Families are recruited from throughout the Christian community so that a wide variety of religious practices are available and clearly presented at admission.
  • Each child is treated lovingly, respectfully and without regard for race, color, religion, sex or national origin.
  • The number of children placed in any one home is based on the welfare of each child and the family members involved.
  • Covenant Kids believes that each move should be toward healing.
    • Foster care is a temporary placement. It is our commitment to assist and prepare the child to be reunified with their birth family or other relatives in a constructive, purposeful manner in accordance with the permanency plan.
    • For those children who can be expected to emancipate out of foster care, independent living skills training will be initiated at an age-appropriate level.
    • For those children whose permanency plan is adoption and whose parental rights have been terminated, Covenant Kids attempts to place the child with an adoptive home to assist in facilitating an adoption.
  • Social and recreational needs are provided through home, school, church and community activities, with goals for each activity outlined in an Individual Service Plan.
  • The emotional and psychological needs of each child placed in a CK therapeutic foster/adoptive home are addressed through individual and/or group therapy. Psychological testing, psychiatric evaluation and other medical services are also provided, when necessary.
