Bill Lund
President and Chief Executive Officer
Covenant Kids was founded by Bill and his wife Karen out of their desire to make a difference in the lives of children physically, emotionally and spiritually. Prior to founding Covenant Kids, Bill was the Founder and President of Daybreak, an Agency that served individuals with special needs and their families. Bill also served as Vice President of ADVO Opportunities, serving children and adults with special needs. With more than 25 years of experience in the administration of programs to serve children and families, Bill brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Covenant Kids. Bill is currently on the Board of Directors for the Texas Alliance of Child and Family Services (TACFS) and is actively involved in the legislative process, particularly as it pertains to supporting families and children. Bill sets the bar high for the Covenant Kids team. He expects excellence and is willing to go to great lengths to remove barriers and ensure that Covenant Kids staff are able to provide a premium level of service to families in need. Karen Lund, RN, LCPAA
Executive Director
Karen graduated from the College of St Catherine in St Paul, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in nursing. She is a licensed Registered Nurse and has spent the last 35 years working with children and families. Karen co-founded Covenant Kids with her husband, Bill. Prior to Covenant Kids, Karen and Bill started Daybreak, an Agency that served individuals with special needs and their families. Karen is responsible for the overall operations of the agency. She has oversight responsibility for the management for over 45 employees and two offices including all clinical and administrative functions. Karen is committed to ensuring that children have safe and loving homes. She pushes her to team to implement the most current and effective strategies and interventions so that children make progress and find healing with their Covenant Kids families. Rebecca Davee, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Rebecca (Becky) Davee serves as the Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the accounting function of Covenant Kids. She has nearly 30 years of public and private accounting experience. She has extensive regulatory and best practice expertise and provides consultation to other organizations in these matters. She is licensed in Texas and Oklahoma and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, Oklahoma Society of CPAs, FW-Chapter of TSCPA and leads the Non-profit Group for the Chapter. She is a member of the Rotary Club of Fort Worth and serves on the board of the Day Resource Center. She and her husband Kevin have been married for over 25 years and have 3 adult daughters. As an adoptive child, Becky grew up in the small east Texas town of Daingerfield. As an adult , she and her family were reunited with her biological mother. Yolanda Deaton, LCPAA
Associate Director
Yolanda graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and Psychology from Eastern New Mexico University. Yolanda has worked in the area of human services , assisting adults with disabilities, and she joined the Covenant Kids team in 2002 as a Case Manager. She was later promoted to the role of Case Management Supervisor and eventually Associate Director. As the Associate Director, Yolanda oversees the agency’s Foster Care program and directly supervises the Area Director, Case Management Supervisors, Adoption Director, Development Director and the Intake Manager Supervisor. Her passion for children finding healing in safe and stable homes drives her to uphold the standards of the agency and to aim for success with each child and family we serve. Shannon Bouse, LMSW
Adoption Director
Shannon graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Stephen F. Austin State University and went on to complete a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. Shannon is a Licensed Master Social Worker. Shannon has worked with foster and adoptive children and families for 16 years, and she has been a part of the Covenant Kids team since 2006. As the Adoption Director, Shannon oversees the agency’s foster parent adoptions, leads pre-service adoption training, and is responsible for matching Covenant Kids families with waiting children throughout the state of Texas who are in need of an adoptive or legal risk placement. Travis Jones, LPC
Development Director
Travis graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Dallas Baptist University before completing a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor. His career in human services began in rehabilitation services for adults with chronic mental illness prior to entering the field of foster care and adoption. Travis has worked in the area of foster and adoptive family development, as well as matching and facilitating adoptions, for more than 5 years, verifying more than 350 families to provide foster care and adoption in their home during this time. Travis joined the Covenant Kids team in 2007 and serves as the Development Director for Covenant Kids, directing the agency’s Family Development Program. Shawn Wilson, LCPAA
Area Director – Covenant Kids Plano
Shawn graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Harding University. Shawn has performed a variety of duties in the social services field for more than 13 years, with more than 10 of those years providing services to foster and adoptive children and their families in Texas. Shawn has been a part of the Covenant Kids team since 2008. As the Area Director, Shawn is instrumental in seeking and pursuing opportunities to expand Covenant Kids’ program offerings. Additionally, Shawn provides program oversight to the agency’s Post Adoption Program in DFPS Regions 2, 3, and 4 and direct supervision to the agency’s Plano Office based Foster Care Case Management Team. Shawn is committed to upholding the mission of the agency by encouraging excellence from families and staff. Shawn is a valuable asset to our children, families, and employees. Lorie Gibson
Office Manager
Lorie joined the Covenant Kids team in 2002. She has over 25 years of experience working in various roles at Fort Worth State School, ADVO Home Health, and a pediatrician’s office. Her experience includes medical records management, medical billing, quality assurance, performance improvement, state contracts, human resources, and office management. As the Office Manager for Covenant Kids, she oversees the offices with a team of seven staff. Lorie and her staff ensure compliance with RCCL Minimum Standards and six DFPS Contracts through data collection, management of clinical charts, quality audits, and performance improvement reports. Lorie and her team support services in the foster care, adoption, post adoption services, family development, and psychological departments of the agency. Lorie spends her extra time watching one of her five children play various sports with her husband Jimmy of twenty years. You may contact Lorie at lgibson@covenantkids.org.
